What EXW actually includes
Under EXW the seller makes the goods available at the factory door. Loading, export clearance, transport, insurance and import all belong to the buyer — the price simply reflects that none of it is included.
The loading question
Many factories refuse to load under EXW, and technically they are right to. Confirm who loads the container or truck before the pickup is booked, or the cargo waits at the gate until someone does.
Export clearance under EXW
The buyer must export-declare in China, which needs a local agent and the supplier’s cooperation on documents. If the supplier cannot support the export declaration, switch the order to FCA — it exists precisely for this gap.
