Is FOB appropriate for an LCL shipment?

Review the actual handover first. LCL goods often enter a consolidation facility before vessel loading, so FCA at an agreed receiving point may describe delivery more accurately. Buyer and seller should agree the term, named location and handling responsibilities before collection; the forwarder should not silently rewrite the sales agreement.
